Weight-loss Program:
Midwest Therapy Centers offers a pediatric weight-loss program to encourage a healthy lifestyle with workout programs tailored to each patient as an individual. Our staff of physical therapists use the latest research to not only facilitate weight-loss, but also body image, confidence, and overall well-being. We provide referrals for outside resources as necessary. The program itself consists of 19 visits with a reassessment performed on the last visit. From there, a patient may complete the program or be recommended for further visits depending on the results.

PROMPT:
Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets
The technique is a tactile-kinesthetic approach that uses touch cues to a patient's articulators (jaw, tongue, lips) to manually guide them through a targeted word, phrase, or sentence. The technique develops motor control and the developmental of proper oral muscular movements, while eliminating unnecessary muscle movements, such as jaw sliding and inadequate lip rounding. PROMPT therapy is appropriate for a wide range of patients with communication disorders. The most common patients have motor speech disorders, articulation problems, or are non-verbal children.

S.O.S:
Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) approach to feeding is an interdisciplinary approach to assess and treat children with feeding and weight/growth difficulties. The goal of the program is to increase the child's food repertoire and comfort level by exploring and learning about various foods, in addition to oral motor and sensory skills. It is based on following the typical developmental steps toward feeding to gradually desensitize children to various textures, smells, and tastes of foods. The following children would benefit from the SOS feeding program: children who perfer >20 different foods, refuse to eat various textures, have oral motor/sensory challenges, "picky eaters", have meltdowns during meal time, and only eat specific brands of food.
